Scientists say miles of artificial sand banks probably won't do much to defend the Louisiana coast from the Gulf oil slick, but local officials say they're going ahead with the project regardless. The federal government has already signed off on the project, which will be funded by BP. "Nobody has good answers on a lot of fronts with this spill," says one of the state's environmental advisers. "You've got to try and do something." Sand dredging will will start this weekend, according to one official.
