Experts discover 3 gene variants related to vitamin D deficiency

U.S. and U.K. scientists identified mutations in three genes, which play a role in cholesterol synthesis and vitamin D metabolism and transport, that seem to increase the risk of vitamin D deficiency. They said the findings could help explain why some people still suffer from vitamin D insufficiency despite their exposure to sunlight and a good diet.
