Germany, France urge EU to accelerate curbs on CDS, short sales

Germany and France called on the European Commission to speed up and intensify an effort to curb market speculation with restrictions on naked short selling of certain stocks and regulation of credit default swaps. However, the commission rejected a claim that it is not moving quickly enough and said a consensus among the 27 EU nations is needed before a decision can be made.
