Iowa officials plan $2.3B road-renewal project

The Iowa Department of Transportation is planning to spend $2.3 billion in state and federal funds on a four-year campaign to overhaul highways across the state. The bulk of the money will be spent on preservation and safety features, but the plans also call for a $110 million road-widening project in western Des Moines and the construction of several new highway interchanges.
