LGBT advocates urge lifting of MSM blood donor ban

With the Federal Advisory Committee on Blood Safety and Availability scheduled this week to review the policy banning men who have sex with men from donating blood, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights advocates have expressed hope that the committee will propose the FDA lift the ban. "We are in a much more sophisticated point in time than to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation," said Malcolm Lazin, executive director of the LGBT advocacy group Equality Forum.
