American, JetBlue are beefing up booking, frequent-flier agreement

This feature quotes insiders who say American Airlines and JetBlue Airways will strengthen their 15-month-old booking and frequent-flier agreement by adding more foreign cities. The move would allow American to sell more tickets on its international flights, while JetBlue would be able to offer new destinations to its domestic passengers. "If the benefits to AMR of the JetBlue tie-up are as good as I think they'll be, I also believe it increases the odds there may be a merger down the road," said analyst James M. Higgins.
