Grant will support N.Y. eye institute's telehealth program

A $600,000 grant was awarded by the Greater Rochester Health Foundation to the University of Rochester Medical Center's Flaum Eye Institute to aid its pilot telehealth initiative called Rochester Area Tele-I-Care. The initiative will work to boost screening rates for patients with diabetes, as well as identify those at risk for diabetes-related vision loss, in financially challenged neighborhoods by connecting the institute, primary care doctors and Rochester General Health System's Department of Ophthalmology.
