SpaceX president followed her desire to build spacecraft

Degrees from Northwestern University in engineering and mathematics and a friend who worked at Aerospace Corp. were key steps along the line for Gwynne Shotwell, 49, now president and chief operating officer of SpaceX. Shotwell has been with SpaceX since 2002, following her desire "to go build and put spacecraft together." The pioneering company now builds rockets and capsules to resupply the International Space Station.
