Startups want a piece of $25B app market

Twilio and other startups that develop software and tools for mobile-application developers are eager to gain customers and revenue, Jessica Lessin writes. "[T]he app-service companies are benefiting by the sheer size of the mobile business -- with app stores run by Apple Inc. and Google Inc. approaching one million apps each -- and the growth of online software that has made it easier for developers to integrate new tools," Lessin writes. Gartner estimates that app stores will generate worldwide revenue of $25 billion this year, a 62% increase from 2012.
