Massachusetts district to implement Singapore Math

After an overhaul of their math teaching system catapulted Singapore students into first place in a 1999 international math and science education study, their method has attracted the attention of educators worldwide. Next fall, all North Middlesex, Mass., students in grades one through six will use Singapore Math, an approach that rejects memorized tables, stresses mental math and exposes children only once to a new concept.
