Fla. county tourism board wants to buy ads with bed-tax hike

Pinellas County, Fla.'s tourist development board is asking the county to raise the bed tax it assesses on visitor accommodations by 1%, primarily to buy advertising to promote the area to domestic and European tourists. The increase would raise the tax to the maximum 5% permitted by state law.
