Three senators plan to block vote on Crawford nomination

Despite a report clearing the FDA's acting chief of having an affair, Dr. Lester Crawford's nomination to be permanent commissioner is being blocked by three senators over other issues. Democratic Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton, N.Y., and Patty Murray, Wash., plan to block a senate vote on Crawford because of the FDA's failure to issue a ruling on OTC status for the morning-after contraceptive, while Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., plans to block him over an issue involving condom labeling.
