Investors urge SEC to reinstate uptick rule

Hundreds of investors have sent letters urging the Securities and Exchange Commission to reinstate the uptick rule, a restriction on short selling when the price of a stock drops in its most recent trade. The SEC continues to seek comments on the proposal. The Security Traders Association, however, argues that the uptick rule is not effective in the market today.
