Still under construction, lavish Las Vegas resort files for bankruptcy

The owners of the $3 billion Fontainebleau hotel and casino resort in Las Vegas said the project filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Tuesday. Nearly all construction has halted on the Fountainebleau, which is among the most elaborate resorts planned for the area. The resort has filed a lawsuit against lenders who reneged on an $800 million loan to finish construction. They are now seeking alternative financing.
