U.S. study seeks pregnant women with autistic children

The Early Autism Risk Longitudinal Investigation study wants to enroll 1,200 women who have a child with autism and also are pregnant. The study will monitor the babies born to these women until age 3, looking for early signs of autism. The study's principal investigator said studying families already affected by autism offers the best chance to learn how genetic and environmental factors work to cause the disorder.
