Bank systems likely will need major upgrades to accommodate Basel III

The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision is poised to issue rules that will require "massive system upgrades" by major financial institutions, said David Kelly of the financial software company Quantifi. Kelly said banks likely will spend about $100 million each for upgrades, including hardware, software and integration.
