Building information modeling helps assess value

Designers and contractors of one of the largest and tallest pediatric research hospitals are several months ahead of schedule, partly because of a requirement by owners that they collaborate by using building information modeling. Construction managers at the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago are comparing BIMs to what was built as a way to evaluate "what is and isn't creating value," even though the project is just 50% completed. The cost for BIM is uncertain, but it helped the owners save seven figures, estimates one project executive.
