Congress begins work to reconcile versions of financial-services bill

Lawmakers have begun work on reconciling the House and Senate versions of financial-services-reform legislation. The National Conference of Insurance Legislators and the National Conference of State Legislators in a letter urged conferees to limit the regulatory powers of the proposed Office of National Insurance, as well as include state regulators in the Financial Stability Oversight Council, a proposal supported by the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America.
