Fed's Beige Book says economic activity improved in May

The Federal Reserve's Beige Book said that confidence in the economic recovery was hindered by the European debt crisis but that economic activity across the U.S. improved. "Economic activity continued to improve since the last report across all twelve Federal Reserve districts, although many districts described the pace of growth as 'modest,' " the Fed said.
