Japan's Nikkei 225 and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 advanced 1.1%, while South Korea's Kospi Composite added 0.3%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index and New Zealand's NZX 50 inched up 0.1%, while China's Shanghai Composite shed 0.8%. Taiwan's Taiex gained 1.6%, while Singapore's Straits Times Index and India's Sensex climbed 0.6% in late trading.
