Oklahoma educators to be rated under new 5-point system

Oklahoma will be creating a five-point rating system for evaluating teachers and principals. Under the Oklahoma Teacher and Leader Effectiveness Evaluation System, educators will be rated annually as superior, highly effective, effective, needs improvement or ineffective, with two or three years of low ratings a possible cause for dismissal. State education officials are backing the evaluations as part of their bid for federal grant money, but some teachers union leaders remain in opposition.
