Shuster: U.S. passenger rail should be deregulated

Amtrak has failed to make the most of the Northeast Corridor, writes Rep. Bill Shuster, R-Pa. Shuster writes that he and House Transportation Chairman John Mica (R-Fla.) plan to introduce legislation that would remove the corridor from Amtrak's control and open it for private-sector bidding. The representatives are eying other routes for similar plans, he writes.
