Haughton Crater in Nunavut, Canada, simulates the Martian landscape

The Haughton Crater, on Canada's Devon Island, lies in a polar-desert landscape that may be the closest to depicting the environment on Mars. In 1997, the impact crater drew researchers from NASA who wished to conduct simulations of expected missions on Mars.
