Kaspersky: Cybercriminals up the ante with cutting-edge Android bug

Researchers have pulled the covers off a highly complex new strain of malware that exploits previously unknown vulnerabilities in the Android operating system to wreak havoc on mobile devices. The trojan Backdoor.AndroidOS.Obad.a -- which Kaspersky Lab is calling the most sophisticated Android bug it's ever discovered -- is activated through infected SMS messages and allows attackers to steal any data on the target device and even co-opt its Bluetooth connection to target peripherals.
