St. Jude Medical pumps $40M into Spinal Modulation

St. Jude Medical has made a $40 million investment in Spinal Modulation, giving it an exclusive option to acquire the California device startup for up to $300 million, plus milestone fees. St. Jude also gained rights to market Spinal Modulation's Axium Neurostimulator System, a CE-marked device designed to treat chronic pain, outside the U.S.
