Study: EHR adoption increases, more physicians close to MU

A survey of 1,820 primary care and subspecialty physicians showed 43.5% had a basic EHR system but only 9.8% had achieved meaningful use status and fewer than half said their systems were capable of doing patient population management tasks, according to a study in the Annals of Internal Medicine. Study co-author and family physician Michael Painter, M.D., said it was important that about 40% of primary care physicians were close to achieving MU and many would likely do so if surveyed now.
