Texans rally to save helicopter jobs

About 100 jobs could be lost at American Eurocopter's U.S. headquarters in Grand Prairie, Texas, if Pentagon budget cuts go through. The company was planning to build 31 Lakota helicopters during the next year, but that has been reduced to 10. There is a concern that reductions in military orders could affect civilian orders. "American Eurocopter does have some offshore and some international people who want to buy it, but if you shut the program down, [then] the cost escalates and they may not be able to get those," said Grand Prairie Mayor Ron Jensen.
