Internet domain name registrations surging

The number of Internet domain name registrations shot up 21% in the first quarter compared with a year ago, with more new names entering the online world than ever before, according to domain registrar Verisign. The boon is partly due to new suffixes such as .info and new domains using Russian, Arabic and Chinese characters. The total number of domain name registrations was up 21% on the same period in 2003.
