Analysts: Commercial banks may snap up brokerages

The need for steady sources of capital may bring an end to independent investment banks, analysts said. That could lead to a consolidation of U.S. investment banks and commercial banks as early as next year. Once the credit crisis eases, commercial banks may see beaten-down brokerage houses as attractive buys.
