Northwest pilots at odds with national union over contract proposal

Conflict is growing between Northwest Airlines pilots and the Air Line Pilots Association, their national union, over the planned merger between Delta Air Lines and Northwest Airlines. ALPA represents pilots from both airlines. The proposal includes an equity stake and annual raises for Delta pilots. The merger may close by the end of this year if it receives regulatory approval.
