Arkansas' cord-blood project receives startup funds

The University of Arkansas' Newborn Umbilical Cord Blood Initiative has secured $500,000 for the startup costs for establishing as early as January 2010 the U.S.'s first public cord-blood bank system for a state. The money will be used to finance the bank's first year of operation as well as for purchasing equipment and training on using cord-blood collection kits.
