Carriers might make further seating-capacity cuts

Analysts say U.S. carriers, including Delta Air Lines and American Airlines, may need to reduce seating capacity by as much as 5% following the summer travel season. "We have always been responsive to demand in the marketplace," said Julie King, a representative for Continental Airlines. "We are closely monitoring the market and will continue to adjust capacity as needed."
