Company says mini-reactors may spur interest in nuclear power

Babcock & Wilcox says it has developed a light-water reactor design that could play a key role in getting more communities to build nuclear facilities. The 125-megawatt mini-reactors would be built in the U.S. and could be shipped via rail, say company officials. The reactors could be combined to serve large population areas and come complete with a built-in storage facility that would be able to accommodate 60 years' worth of used fuel.
