CTIA joins firms to oppose FM-mobile proposal

The broadcast-industry proposal to require inclusion of FM chipsets in mobile devices is not in the public interest, said CTIA-The Wireless Association® and a group of major wireless companies in a letter to key members of Congress. Broadcasters are responding to congressional plans to form a Commercial Mobile Alert Service as part of the Warning, Alert and Response Network Act, but CTIA argued that the FM mandate was inconsistent with the WARN Act's intent.
