Fed survey finds rising commercial vacancies, tight financing

The Federal Reserve's latest "beige book," the central bank's regional survey of what's going on in the economy, says some big challenges remain for commercial real estate. "Vacancy rates for commercial properties were rising in many parts of the country, while developers are finding financing for new commercial projects increasingly difficult to obtain," the book said. "Most districts reported that overall lending activity was stable or weak."
