Fontainebleau bankruptcy comes at bad time for Las Vegas workers

With joblessness in the area already at 10%, the bankruptcy filing of Fontainebleau Las Vegas LLC could have a serious impact on the area's construction industry. About 3,000 people were working on the construction of the resort project on the Las Vegas Strip when the bankruptcy petition was filed. "We are seeing a complete shutdown of any project that is privately funded," said Steve Redlinger, a spokesman for the Southern Nevada Building and Construction Trades Council.
