U.S. rail-car shipments down again, but sign of improvement seen

Chemical rail-car shipments in the U.S. declined for the 40th straight week during the week of June 6, dropping 16% from the same week in 2008, according to the Association of American Railroads. The rail-car loadings have declined 17.4% year-to-date compared with last year. However, in one encouraging sign, the report noted that overall rail traffic for North America reached its highest point in nine weeks.
