14,000 schools employees in Mich. agree to retirement incentive

At least 14,000 Michigan teachers and other schools staff have agreed to retire as part of an incentive program designed to decrease spending, officials say. That is half of the goal of 28,000, which is necessary to save $680 million in the next budget year. Under the plan, teachers were offered enhanced pensions as an incentive to retire.
