California transit department boosts energy projects

The North County Transit District in California recently installed 24 solar panels on the roof of its headquarters to help reduce energy costs. The District will use $2 million in stimulus grants for the panels and other projects, and for the installation of solar panels at bus maintenance facilities and solar-powered car-charging units in some parking lots.
