Floating-bridge builders get best-practices list

Washington state transportation officials are putting the finishing touches on a best-practices list for the construction of floating bridges, based on a series of tests conducted on one-sixth scale pontoons. The results will be fed into the design process for the state's Route 520 Evergreen Point Floating Bridge, which at almost 7,497 feet is the longest structure of its kind in the world.
