House Democrat seeks to avoid national discussion of gays:

Keeping the ban on allowing gay troops to serve openly in the military would help parents avoid having to explain homosexuality to their children, according to Rep. Ike Skelton, D-Mo., who serves as chair of the House Armed Services Committee. Skelton was among 26 Democrats who voted against an amendment to repeal the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" law last month.
