Mississippi approves coal plant, but sets cost cap

Mississippi's Public Service Commission has given Mississippi Power the go-ahead to build a 582-megawatt coal-fired power plant, but it says costs for the project must be capped at $2.88 billion. The cost cap splits the difference between the state's earlier $2.4 billion budget and Mississippi Power's original $3.2 billion proposal for the project.
