Smartphones act as a conduit for online shopping

Smartphones are increasingly becoming a consumer tool, with $2.2 billion of online goods expected to be purchased this year using a mobile handset. That's $1 billion more than in 2009, says ABI Research. Currently, about 30% of retailers have built mobile-commerce websites.
