United, Continental begin talks on new pilots' contract:

United and Continental airlines are in talks with pilot unions to iron out a new contract by the fall as the carriers approach a merger. The airlines started negotiating a transition agreement this week and should have a new collective bargaining agreement in place by the time the merger is expected to close later this year, said a United labor official.
