Brazil's Marfrig retools to serve chain restaurants

Darden Restaurants' deal with Sao Paulo-based International Meal to open 57 restaurants in Brazil and three other Latin American markets provides new opportunities for beef supplier Marfrig Alimentos, which sealed a deal this week to sell chicken and pork operations. Marfrig, which already sells burger patties to McDonald's and steaks to Outback Steakhouse, plans a bigger shift from supermarket sales to higher-margin foodservice deals.
