Google buys Israeli mapping startup Waze

Google has acquired Israeli mapping and navigation startup Waze in a deal that reportedly tops $1 billion. The search giant has confirmed the acquisition but not the price, saying Waze technology will add real-time traffic updates to Google Maps. The purchase is also seen as a move by Google to increase its location-based mobile ad reach.
