Next Generation Science Standards approved by Kan. state board

The Kansas State Board of Education by an 8-2 vote on Tuesday approved new science standards to be taught in the state's schools. The Next Generation Science Standards reportedly include more hands-on learning, and an emphasis on technology and engineering. The meeting also included a lengthy debate over the adoption of multistate Common Core State Standards, as educators from across the state came to voice their opinions.
