Research: Room service profits keep sliding

The trend away from room service at high-end hotels follows a long-term drop in revenue from the meals served in rooms, research shows. Room service accounted for just 1.22% of hotel revenue in 2012, down from 1.52% in 2007, according to PKF Hospitality Research, and in dollar amounts, per-room revenue from the practice has been dropping, as well. In August, New York's largest hotel, the New York Hilton Midtown, will halt room service.
