VA mortgage loans are hard to get in NYC

Veterans seeking to access a Department of Veterans Affairs mortgage loan program in New York City are finding it difficult to gain approval. The program, which has been in operation for 69 years, granted more than half a million loans last year but only authorized or refinanced 266 in the New York City area, where more than 200,000 veterans reside.
