Is surgeon general candidate anti-gay?

Gay rights groups, some physicians and lawmakers are lining up to oppose the nomination of Dr. James W. Holsinger to be surgeon general, citing his anti-gay views as a top lay official in the United Methodist Church. But Holsinger's allies within the church and the medical profession defend him as one who is not prejudiced against people, whether in a church or medical setting.
